Cookie Policy
Draft. This policy is under legal review and may change.
Last updated: [EFFECTIVE_DATE] Version 1.0
In short: We use only the cookies the site needs to work: to keep you signed in, protect forms, remember your language and keep your cart. We also use a rewards referral cookie when you arrive through a friend's link, and a lead-source cookie that remembers a promo code (for example, a salesperson's code) for 90 days so we can credit the right sign-up. In the European Union we ask for your consent before setting either of these. We do not use advertising cookies or sell cookie data. Some partners, such as PayPal, Google, Facebook and Jitsi, set their own cookies when you use their services. This summary is not part of the policy below.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage and service workers. In this policy, "cookies" covers all of them. This policy is part of our Privacy Policy.
2. Cookies we use
2.1. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are needed for the Platform to work and for services you ask for. They do not need consent. You can block them in your browser, but the Platform will not work properly.
| Cookie or storage | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in and remembers your session | Until you close your browser or after 2 hours without activity |
| "Remember me" cookie | Keeps you signed in if you tick "Remember me" | 400 days, or until you log out |
| Security token (XSRF/CSRF) | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery | Session |
| Language | Remembers English, Spanish or Arabic | Kept in your session (2 hours without activity); signed-in members keep it in their account |
| Cart | Keeps the items in your cart | Kept in your session (2 hours without activity) |
| Theme preference (local storage) | Remembers light or dark mode if you choose one | Until you clear it |
| Service worker and push subscription | Delivers web push notifications you turn on, and lets the site work as an app on your phone | Until you turn notifications off or clear site data |
2.2. Rewards referral cookie
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Referral code | Remembers the friend's referral link you opened, so the referral discount and reward can be applied | 30 days |
| Sales agent promo code | Remembers the promo code in a sales agent's sign-up link, so the agent is credited when a pro registers | 60 days |
In the European Union, we set this cookie only after you consent in the cookie banner. Elsewhere, you can decline it in the banner or delete it in your browser.
2.3. Lead-source cookie
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
ref |
A first-party cookie that stores a promo code (for example, a salesperson's code) from a link you opened (?ref=<code>) or entered, together with any UTM source, medium and campaign parameters, so a Pro's registration can be attributed to the right salesperson or marketing channel and commission can be paid correctly |
90 days |
This cookie is essential to attribute a Pro's sign-up to the salesperson or channel that referred them; without it, we could not credit the right salesperson. In the European Union, we treat it the same way as the rewards referral cookie and set it only after you consent in the cookie banner, unless our attorney review concludes it qualifies as strictly necessary for the registration you are completing. Elsewhere, you can decline it in the banner or delete it in your browser.
2.4. Third-party cookies
When you use these services, the provider may set its own cookies under its own policy:
| Provider | When |
|---|---|
| PayPal | When you pay or connect a PayPal account |
| When you sign in with Google, and when fonts are loaded from Google's servers (Google Fonts does not set cookies, but receives your IP address) | |
| When you sign in with Facebook | |
| Jitsi (meet.jit.si) | When you join a video meeting |
| Veriff | When a Seller completes an identity check |
2.5. What we do not use
At the date of this policy, we do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, social media pixels or third-party analytics cookies. If we decide to use any non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before setting them.
3. Managing cookies
3.1. You can change your choice about the rewards referral cookie and the lead-source cookie at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
3.2. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will stop parts of the Platform from working.
